I: Mobile test centre in Chinatown We helped organise the mobile testing unit that opened in Southside this week. Originally planned to be in the Arcadian, it was moved to the area outside the Hippodrome. I: National lockdown England has been placed into lockdown again. A summary table is below.  Other key points:  A free school meal system will be maintained for children from low income families The Government has pledged to provide devices and equipment to support learning for pupils from low income families  School exams have been cancelled for this year. The Education Secretary has confirmed that exams will be replaced with teacher assessments.  It is now against the law to leave home unless you have a specified reason. Covid-19 Weekly Update 2/10/2020 The ‘R’ number (rate of transmission) currently stands between 1.3 and 1.6.The alert level is 4. Local Restrictions There were no new local restrictions for Birmingham citizens this week. With exceptions explained previously, you are not allowed to have visitors in your house or garden, and you are not allowed to enter other people’s houses or gardens wherever they live. Weekly Update 18/9/2020 New rules for social gatherings  We have produced a quick guide to the new rules that came into force this week.  http://bit.ly/Indoor_OutdoorGathering The ‘Rule of 6’ is national law that came into effect on Monday 14th September; the ban on visits inside people’s homes and gardens applies to people living in Birmingham, Sandwell and Solihull. It came into effect on Tuesday 15th.
