We've updated our Covid booklet to include information on testing and vaccination which weren't available to the public when we wrote the original version. As a virus, Covid-19 will mutate so we have kept the information in the booklet as broad as possible. I. Current situation On 19 July The Government has lifted the remaining Covid restrictions, social distancing, events and gatherings and travel in England.  Birmingham is one of the areas with high numbers of Indian/Delta variant cases There are 12 areas of England where the Delta variant is spreading quickly. Birmingham is on the list. The government says if you live in one of these areas you should read local Covid-19 information and advice. Covid-19 Weekly Update 2/10/2020 The ‘R’ number (rate of transmission) currently stands between 1.3 and 1.6.The alert level is 4. Local Restrictions There were no new local restrictions for Birmingham citizens this week. With exceptions explained previously, you are not allowed to have visitors in your house or garden, and you are not allowed to enter other people’s houses or gardens wherever they live. Weekly Update 18/9/2020 New rules for social gatherings  We have produced a quick guide to the new rules that came into force this week.  http://bit.ly/Indoor_OutdoorGathering The ‘Rule of 6’ is national law that came into effect on Monday 14th September; the ban on visits inside people’s homes and gardens applies to people living in Birmingham, Sandwell and Solihull. It came into effect on Tuesday 15th.
